TOPICS:
General Psycho-Social Aspects of Illness - Acoustic Neuroma and Its Challenges
Presented by Barbara Mills, MS, LMFT, Collaborative Coaching Services
Barbara is certified as a Medical Family Therapist.  She has written and taught courses on the dynamics of collaborative medicine and is a professional coach.  Medical family therapy is a unique discipline in which licensed mental health professionals receive advanced training in medical systems.  Medical psychotherapists work with individuals and families, often in collaboration with physicians and other medical professionals, as they face and navigate illness and its implications.  Barbara will facilitate input and discussion from the group on the particular challenges of acoustic neuroma.  We hope you will join us for this very informative presentation.

The meeting will be facilitated by Peggy Maddock, an acoustic neuroma post-treatment patient.

Who should attend? Family members, caregivers, friends and interested persons are encouraged to attend.

Benefits of attending a local support group include communicating in a nurturing, non-judgmental environment with others who have shared a common acoustic neuroma experience; sharing information on dealing with specific problems, overcoming handicaps and reassuring others that better times lie ahead; educating and informing each other about the latest acoustic neuroma topics of interest; and providing emotional support to all patients, both pre- and post-treatment. This helps in reducing the isolation and loneliness that many acoustic neuroma patients feel.

Note: In no case does ANA endorse any commercial product, physician, surgeon, medical procedure, medical institution or its staff.
