This is from the face of a paddle that I made and auctioned for charity. Made a wonderful friend in the guy that bought it. He and I planned the CCBC together. He has a tattoo of a humpback and two calves on his shoulder. Symbolizing his wife and two sons and his love of the ocean and whales.

That is a very touching story about the man and his tattoos - however, I think I would prefer my husband to pick something other than a whale to symbolize me!  Maybe a dolphin..a shark... even a guppy??

LOL....I asked him about that....he said she was fine with it...I guess it helps that she is a very slender and also loves the ocean and whales. My wife said if I ever put a whale on my arm to symbolize her she would harpoon me....even though she is about as petite as she was in high school.... ;)

Michelle - your daughter's tattoo is beautiful! What an honor for you!  :)
Stoneaxe -  i think it was VERY special that you did a tattoo for your daughter!  Amazing!  :D

Gee - makes me think i should consider a tattoo...  My own daughter had a henna tattoo once on her back, and i thought it was very pretty.  But she surely 'freaked out' her dad, until he found out it wasn't permanent!  :o

I like turtles - alot!  You know, slow and steady wins the race.  In the Springtime, i will stop, pull over and move box turtles to a safe place out of the roadway, so they don't get hit by a car.  (But my husband did warn me not to pick up the snapping turtles!)
In the Cayman Islands and Hawaii i have seen the big tortoise/turtles - they are such peaceful, graceful creatures. 

Can't wait to see more tattoo pics!

My wife was away on business when I did it. She probably wouldn't have let me either. She wasn't very impressed when she heard of it I have to admit. Although when she saw it she did admit that it was pretty cool.

Finally, here it is! This is my left shoulder blade (the side my tumour was on).

   

On top of the wing I wrote my children's names out - amanda angela alanna. Each daughter starts and ends with an 'a' so I wrote them out together. amandangelalanna

I had the the wing in black and white and the word Believe in rainbow colours to signify a rainbow after a storm. A rainbow is Gods promise that the worst is over.

Retrosigmond surgery on June 4th, 2008 for an AN. 100% hearing loss and facial paralysis (was not prepared for facial paralysis). Size: 2.3 cm, 2.1 cm, 1.8 cm. some tumour remains along facial nerve. Pray for no regrowth. Misdiagnosed for 10 yrs.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.
