Ok are we going with the Jan 7 date?

This sounds like fun and would be great to relax after the holiday rush.  My family stayed in Mission Bay for a weekend during the summer,
it was fun and we stayed at the Bahia, which was ok but I am sure there are way nicer places to stay.  Champagne and brunch are one of my favorite combos!

Cheers,

Ahhhhh.....yes, BP territory. I'll be in Spring Hill. You're in the Tampa area? I'll be escaping the hardship of winter this year. I just hope that I can hook up with a good band while I'm down there. We'll see......

SUNDAY BRUNCH GET-TOGETHER AT SAN DIEGO - January 7th !!!

I made reservations at Tom Ham's Lighthouse Restaurant http://www.tomhamslighthouse.com/index.html for January 7th 11:00 am.  Reservations name is "ANA".  This restaurant has a fabulous view of San Diego Bay.  The buffet brunch will definitely make us so full that we need to wash down all those roast beef, ham, oysters, omlets, desserts, etc. with those free margaritas!!   ;D

Let me know your confirmation so that I can give them the exact headcount.  I think I have heard interest and possibility from:

Patti UT
Mary
Busybonnie
Cheryl (Matti)
SuzeAN
Phyl (with her bloke?)
tcrnko and wife (possible)
John (most likely)
Shoegirl
Corrine5000 (never know?)
Mark and Nancy (possible)

Here's a link to someone who's supposed to be the brunch master locally.  Not sure if Tim Tams are there but the dessert table sure looks great  :D

OOPS!  Tom Ham's has champagne brunch, not margaritas!!!  Let's hold that reservation and let me check out a few other places to see if they are better for those margaritas, may be Mexican since we are in Baja California, etc.

That desert table looks dangerous. Think I just gained 5 lb looking at it.

Change of venue - January 7th : 94th Aero Squadron!!

Today we went to 94th Area Squadron for their Sunday Brunch - great excuse to check out all the brunches around town ;).  I think I found the perfect place for all of us!!!  Don't know why I didn't think of them since I eat there often.  See their home page description:

"Located inside a replica of a World War I French farmhouse, the restaurant sits right on Montgomery Field Airport and is packed full of military memorabilia, farm implements, and aviation relics. The interior is cozy and romantic, with huge stone fireplaces, masses of hanging green plants, dark wood paneling, beamed ceilings, and old airplane wings hanging over the dining area. There are even headphones at some of the tables for diners to listen to the FAA control tower.

On warm evenings and at lunchtime you can sit outdoors on a grassy embankment at umbrella topped tables and be surrounded by an old model airplane, an army jeep, and a duck pond."

It's cool place.  If weather permits (probability is very high in our neck of the woods  8)), we will have patio seating.  If not (very unlikely), the inside is very charming also.  And the food is just superb!!! ;D  It has a menu that includes so much + Mexican food + champagne.  Their famous Bloody Mary, Margaritas, etc. are only $2.75.  I talked to the manager there and found out that they are voted the #1 Sunday Brunch in San Diego!

The location is so central with easy parking.  Shopping, Mission Bay, Seaworld, Coronado, beaches, La Jolla, San Diego Zoo, glider fields, etc. are all within 10 - 15 mintues.  I will call them early December to book us a table (they don't take reservation for January until December).  So, let me know your confirmation so that I can give them our headcount.

It's December already and it's looking a lot like Christmas!!

I received confirmation from some of you about our January 7 get together.  Please let me know what your plans are.  I may even change the location to a waterfront restaurant at popular demand!  We are in Southern Cal and the beach is awefully tempting.  I guess all these pictures of brunches that I posted are making me real hungry.  I am so excited that we will finally meet in person!!

It looks like we will have a small group for this get together.  Oh well.  May be the timing is bad.  Anyway, we have confirmed attendance from:

Mary (and husband)
Mark (and wife)

Still checking with the San Diego based folks - Busybonnie, trncko, John, etc.

Please let me know as we are getting close to the date.

Mark and I were really looking forward to meeting with some of you whom we have been talking for a while... :(
