1st post baha activation check up!!!
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:44:19 pm »
Well, it all went well...we had to turn off the feedback manager as the audiologist couldnt figure out why I could hear distortion.  Only I could hear it, not her...so I suggested we turn the feed back off.
then we did the test...first without the device and my hearing the 'voice' was 6db...the with the baha on setting one...I hear the 'voice' as low as 3db...that made my audiologist happy...she told me that 3 db may not sound (no pun intended) like alot, but in the hearing 'world', its alot...then when we set it at #2, I could hear the 'voice' at 1/2 db above the background noise...So I am happy...its working....To be honest, unless I block my good ear, I really dont 'hear' any difference....The odd time I can 'hear' the baha working....but its a big WOW factor when I block my good ear

Jo ~

Congratulations on your BAHA!  I'm so pleased to see another SSD person find a workable solution to the problem.

By "not telling a difference" can you hear what is being said on your deaf side with the BAHA? I am hoping that when I get my BAHA, it will really help me that way. Right now I am always trying to reposition my head so my good ear faces the person I want to hear.

I can hear on the deaf side...because its non directional all seems to be coming from the right side but definitely baha is doing its job....

James -

once you get a BAHA, the repositioning of your head becomes a thing of the past.  It's just one of the many advantages of the BAHA.

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways
