Right sided AN 2.7cm at last MRI.  Hearing loss/facial numbness.  Translab scheduled March 11th 2009.  Translab at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia successful!  Total tumour removed, SSD, no facial issues, numbness has left the building, balance issues but they'll get better and I'm loving life!

Hehe...thanks all. Not like I have much hair to worry about. What I do have I went over with a buzz trimmer on #1 before surgery....My longest hair now is about 1/2".... ;D

Well, Bob, I am VERY late in reading this! So sorry to hear about the infection!

But, I guess now that you've had your shower and shampoo, you'll be back out on the water soon.  As everyone else has said ... just be careful and try to keep that incision dry and comfy!

Been awhile since I posted, been lurking a bit. Very busy tying up the loose ends of the CCBC and doc McKenna gave me the go ahead to get back on the water so I've been making up for a lost summer. My new get well present keeping me busy.

All I got were some crummy flowers as a get well present!  Actually they were very beautiful and I loved them and appreciated them... even though they weren't a board!

Uh, JB, I saw your flowers, and they weren't exactly crummy!  You should have seen mine.  And you got jelly beans, too!  Well, I got a basket of goodies that are still lingering around by waistline.

Thanks for the kind words all. This board is going to add so much to how I can have fun on the water. I'm waiting for some high winds to go out for a long downwinder. When the wind is 30-40 mph at your back and there are 3 ft ocean swells you can just fly!

Donnalynn...I hope that's the exchange rate!... :o. A brand new board here costs on avg...$1300 or so. A board like my ocean racer would be about $2500. Boards are expensive but when compared to some other things...not so bad. Skiing will cost you more in the long run and this is better for you than a gym membership.

Together is definitely the more important thing. Hope you and Jim are finally enjoying yourselves. I'm glad Sue likes to paddleboard.... ;D

Sorry I haven't been on much lately folks. Very busy trying to get things back to normal. Speaking of normal...here's an update. My balance is so close to normal I can't tell the difference...only some slight wobble when I go from light to dark....NO headaches...haven't had a single one for over a month....soooo psyched! Facial issues are slowly getting better...eye is tearing (too much actually...sometimes drips... :'() Still problems with my mouth, nose, and face but improved for sure. Very, very happy with how things have gone since surgery. Dr. McKenna rocks!

Hey, Bob ~

I love reading posts about an AN patient getting back to normal and loving it!  Glad to learn how well your recovery is progressing. Keep up the good work.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Bob,

If your ears were ringing today - it is because people were talking about you.  ;) ... Specifically the PDX ANA support group- which had people from both Washington & Oregon State present.  Know that you are an inspirational recovery story worth sharing!
