Hi, Sue (Boss!)
I'll be thinking of Bob and you all as I ride by MGH on the T on my way home from work (in Cambridge).

Thanks for keeping us updated, and take care of yourselves too!

Sue! Hi, its Phyllis from the Worcester brunch. I've been quietly lurking at this post today for the updates on Bob and sending wellness wishes from the Northshore to Boston .... thank you for taking time to keep us updated.  Will check back in later to see how things have gone.

hang in there..... and hope to see you both in October.

Hi, Sue and the girls.
Don't be discouraged if you don't get updates.  Dave didn't hear a word until it was all over.  (Same surgeons)  Get a breath of this beautiful day's fresh air from time to time.  Also, the library halfway to the entrance is a quiet refuge if the worry vibes get too intense in the family waiting room.
It will be so exciting for you to see him come out on the other side.
What did you bake? Nevermind, just got caught up on the surgery date thread.  Wow!  Impressive.  That should keep them goin'.
Kisses and hugs to all of you,
Nancy

Hi Sue, Jacq, and Nic,

I've been in your seat before, well maybe not your seat but the first one on the left as you enter the waiting room, at the table ;D

It's now 3:00 p.m. and I believe the updates will stop.  Don't let that alarm you, as I did, it is simply the end of the nurses shift, and they don't do the OR updates on second shift.  The volunteers at the computers can only tell you when the surgery is over.

Try not to put a time on the surgery, that's the worst thing you could do.  Just try to keep your selves busy, and like NancyMc (hi Nancy) said, walk around, check out the library, get a soda, or a bite to eat.

It can truly be a long day.  Bob has the best in my opinion, MGH and Dr. Barker (I don’t know Dr. McKenna).

Thank you for the updates.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers,

Rich and Scarlett

Bob is officially out of surgery!!! They were able to remove the entire tumor in under 8hours. He is currently waking up a bit so they can go over a few checks and tests then he will be transported to the ICU for an overnight stay. They have said that he is already moving his face and everything went perfectly! I just want to say thank you for all the support and all the doctors and staff at MGH for keeping us all in such good spirits and constant contact. Thanks again everyone! ;D

Boss ~

Fantastic news!  Thanks so much for the positive end-of-surgery update!  We're all thinking of, praying and pulling for Bob to have a splendid and complication-free recovery.  So far, it seems as if he's well on his way.  Tell him he's now an 'official postie-toastie' (has undergone both surgery and radiation).  :)

Our support is freely given because we've been there and can empathize with AN patients and their families.  Here's hoping Bob has a peaceful night in ICU.
