Moving on
« on: July 07, 2014, 09:34:58 am »
Just a note (to those who may have missed the Director's message) that I'm relinquishing my moderator position as of today and deeply appreciate all the kind words I've received regarding my 6 year stint as a forum moderator (8 as a member).

I've enjoyed the opportunity to help and inform newly-diagnosed AN patients over the years and will miss visiting this website every day, as I have since 2006, when I was first diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma.  I was one of the fortunate patients who, although my AN was large - 4.5 cm - experienced both surgery and radiation without any serious complications. My goal was to be a reminder to newly-diagnosed AN patients that the diagnosis isn't necessarily tragic and that there is, as we say, 'life after an AN'.

Now, feeling great (although remaining SSD) I have decided to pursue other interests.  I was glad to be able to communicate and support other AN patients at various stages in their journey, thanks to the ANA and this website.

I appreciate my fellow moderators help over the years and the support and encouragement of our hard-working Director, Judy Vitucci, who gave me the opportunity to be of further help as a forum moderator.

I know Clarice will do a splendid job as moderator as, for years, she has demonstrated her knowledge and interest in helping AN patients on the forums.  I wish her well and trust that she will enjoy the moderator position as much as I have.

Thanks again for the opportunity to serve.  It was a rewarding experience that I won't forget

Jim

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Thanks, Jim, for all the dedication and energy you've shown as moderator during these past years. You've been a help to so many of us! I don't log on to this forum very often any more (my surgery was in January 2008),  but it proved to be a huge support while I was in my recovery period. I learned a lot from you and the other forum participants.

Thanks again for all that you've done!

Jim,

While I understand your decision, you will be missed.  Your counsel was wise, calming, and assuring.

You responded to me early in my diagnosis.  I have never forgotten your kindness and thank you for the peace and education you always extended.

I--and many here--are sincerely and truly grateful.

All the very best,

Patrick

Dear Jim,

Thanks for all you have done for all of us, but in particular for me......I shall miss you Jim! Keep up with being close to God, and  thank you for your insight into things Godly, from your perspective as a Pastor. Alas, all good things must come to an end. Keep up the good work and PM me at anytime.
