Kay,

They did not tell me that on the phone. I inferred this from the website.

I just called Gino's this morning. To arrange a room involves a contract arrangement, with food ordered ahead of time, like catering. $16 to $30 per person. That sounds unlikely to me. Also she said the Cubs are in town, so expect the restaurants, including Gino's, to be busy. Hmmm...

thanks Steve for checking on this.  Well, not sure as of now... since I am not familiar with CHI and what is available for near the Drake. Whatever you all decide what to do, just keep me updated. I may be fine with a burger from the hotel restaurant... no biggie.

Thanks for calling Steve - I had gone back & read the former posts & thought that we had just "gleaned" that we could get a room from the information that Daisy provided...what to do now?  Wonder if Kate has any more suggestions??  Kate??

Braces are on and hair is cut. We're home for a short while before afternoon doctor and physical therapy appointments.

I was hopeful that the Cubbies would be playing in the evening, but no such luck. The game is scheduled for 1:20 p.m.

Maybe we should just pick a time to meet at Gino's and hope for the best.

Don"t know what I'll be doing thurs nite as my back is totally giving me a hard time--was at the urgent care most of Sat and had to have another cortisone shott-- >:( I've got sacroiliitus and have a hard time sitting at all.  The doc told me not to go to Chicago or he would give me a spanking.  But who am I to listen to anyone?????? AAAARRRRR!!!!! Gave myself a pedicure today and did a lot of resting.  Am showing up with my thermaphore heating pad and my tens machine.  I'm probably crazy to get on a plane at all, but you people are so important to me and my sanity!

I suggest we plan to meet in the Drake lobby at a set time and take it from there. If we get there early we may not have to wait so long to get a table.

Phyl, as far as I can tell, a burger from the hotel restaurant is $14. That's what makes the Drake so classy. :)

This is link to a pdf file of a list of restaurants within walking distance from the Drake:
    http://www.thedrakehotel.com/pdf/RestaurantsWithinWalkingDistance.pdf

and another for late night places:
    http://www.thedrakehotel.com/pdf/Restaurantslate-nightoptions.pdf

I think we should just order some pizza delivered from Chi-Town Pizza (on the second list), and have a party in Phyl's  room. :)

oy! :)

Deb, I'm with you as I was in the ER yesterday with back issues and having spine MRI on Wednesday before the trip.  Regardless of what you decide, you know I'm there (or you are here... or there... or us together suffering in silence.... or in loud pain... or whateva'.... I'm there for ya!)

Thanks  Steve for the link... $14 burgers.. better be angus beef with mayo, tomatoe, lite lettuce... with a side of Idaho potatoes (better be the whole state for that price!)

Regardless of what you all want to do... just keep me posted.  I got cell numbers as well (for those of you silly enough to share them with me :D ) and if Deb does fly in... and if we need to rest our backs ahead of dinner... just have the front desk do a wake up call for us before dinner.

Bring out the planks! ;)

Take care all!!!!!

.......By the way...instead of wearing eye patches, we should wear them as ear patches on our "bad" ears so we know what side to talk to people. No use in blocking perfectly good eyes. LOL

Actually the ANA passes out "deaf left" of "deaf right" buttons with your symposium kit.  We tried to get them to include a pirate hat, bandanna and cutlass, but no such luck.

Thank you for that list, Steve. It answered some lingering questions in my mind. First, that Michigan avenue is pedestrian-friendly. Second, that the Red Roof Inn is within walking distance to the Drake. Coco Pazzo Cafe (Tuscan Italian) is right next to the Red Roof Inn and is listed as eight blocks away.

Parking is going to be an issue for all of us. Phyl and Cap'n Deb have reported back problems as well. I am going to be pushing a wheelchair, so I would appreciate someplace between Drake and Red Roof Inn rather than north of the Drake if at all possible.

When I have a chance I will plot out some of the suggestions from the list that Steve posted on my AAA Chicago street map. Hmm. I also need to locate my GPS.
