A New Cochlear Baha BP100 replacing the divino
« on: June 30, 2009, 12:41:22 pm »
My son had surgery today he was fine home now the Dr. told me about the replacement for the divino coming out July 1 in the USA it is call the BP100 programmable gore tex over the mic reverse side is from titanium plus impact resistant plastic, more colors automatic directional mic, plus active feedback cancellation, automatic noise reduction, 12 channel sound analysis for better signal processing and more. Since I did not get my Divino yet " not out of the wrapper yet" they are going to exchange it for the BP100 :) I wish I had pics but I have a brochure from my Dr. it is nice looking and far more advanced then the Divino and alot more durable it is from Cochlear Corp.

Thanks so much for the info, Mike! I just called my ENT's office today, but both he and his assistant are on vacation. I left a message about the BP100, and am hoping I can get the upgrade, too. ;D (I haven't received my processor yet)

I found this, not too much info, though;

How exciting!

Here's some more info:

I think this feature is really cool:

"The Baha BP100 also
comes with a small test rod that allows
wearers to ‘share their Baha experience’ with
friends and family."

I don't mind waiting for the upgrade, either. I just hope it's not going to be an issue getting it. I think my Dr. has my original, but I'm not sure. I will hopefully find out more next week.

Does this mean the race is back on, Mike? ;D

About the race lol, well I guess so  ;D if you have not used the Divino yet which I no you did not or you would have told me you won lol. But seriously you will be able to get it switched out with no problem That is what Cochlear Corp. said.

The Divino comes with the same test rod - and it IS very cool  ;D

Hi Jan, Lisa & Mike,

I'm a bit late adding to this thread, as I was relaxing on the beach last week ... great weather, ocean, seafood, family, golf, etc.  8)  Need I say more?

Well of course ....... about all this great info you've posted about BP100 .... thanks!.  Lisa's last link with the technical details was worth the wait.  With all the new features, one might ask .... does it come with bucket seats?  (never mind .... I'm just old, and haven't heard that in a long long time .... HA!   ::) )

All seriousness aside, it does look promising, so I'll investigate that one as well as Oticon's Ponto .... pronto.

Glad you're all very enthusiastic .... and regarding what I read on that other thread, I might just opt for a local, instead of general, when the time comes.  ;D

My BAHA surgeon returned my call today about the BP100. He just got back form vacation and hadn't heard about the upgrade until he got my message. He is very excited about the new product, and has already put in a call to the Cochlear rep for details. He doesn't think there will be an issue with me getting the BP100 since my Divino was never even taken out the the box.

The best part is, he is going to ask the rep if I can still get the Divino at my originally scheduled date (7-24), and then trade it in when the new one is available. I told that would be great, but I am willing to wait if I have to ;D

He will call me as soon as he gets an answer.

Wait.  I'm getting confused here.  Greg were you on vacation with Lisa's doctor?   ;)   :D

Just thought last night that we haven't heard from you in a while.  Glad it's because you were off relaxing, rather than being too busy to post on the forum.

I, for one, liked your comment about bucket seats - and I'm thinking Lori will too  ;D   As for the local, I'm confident you can handle it.

Lisa -

it's very exciting having the choice of the Divino or the BP100 - and I'm with you; waiting isn't a bad option at all.  Mike may ultimately win the race, but that's no biggie.

One of you will most likely be the first among us to get the new device and we'll all be anxiously awaiting your feedback.

Wait just a minute, Jan ...... I would never go to Portland, Maine to swim in the ocean .... brrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!   Of course, Lisa's doc could have been in the mid-Atlantic enjoying the more-balmy water temps and the few jellyfish  :P  but we just don't know, do we?

Yep, I'm looking forward to more info and experiences re the BP100 .... and waiting til the Oticon Pronto arrives for decision-making.  Really exciting!

I did have my 2.5 yr tube-o-gloom follow-up on 6/5, but just got the "official" good-news call from my surgeon's nurse last night that all is hunky-doree and no changes from last year, and the year before that, etc.  I did get the MRI report faxed to me on the 6th, so I could see that there is "no structural abnormality" in the CSF spaces..... also, other un-pronounceable brain areas "appear grossly intact."

Those are the two parts that I especially like among all the great verbiage (that the general public will never understand), and, with that in mind, I guess I'm good to go for another year.  ;D

BTW, remind me some day to tell ya the story of my baha tester being introduced to beer .... after a licking, it kept on ticking!  Ya had to have been there .... it was uxcruciating  :o  followed by funny  ;D

My best to all listening ......
