Eye Care Video
« on: June 03, 2009, 04:09:19 pm »
I thought I would post this link to a video I just put up on YouTube on eye care.  I did this for a friend of my parents who woke up recently with bells palsy - I thought it was easier to demonstrate than explain in writing.  Then I thought - hey, this might help some folks here out too.  So, here it is (about 3 minutes)

Also I am getting to post my new profile picture with my NEW HAT!!!  (Thanks Steve - you're the champion Knitter!)

Great job Debbi. I wish someone had done that when I was starting out on the AN journey. For any newbies with dry eye, I can tell you that I do exactly as Debbi does with exactly the same products. I am almost 10 months post op and still do not produce tears in my AN side eye. I tried many different drops before settling on these.

I just had to show this to my family....it was good to get confirmation from someone else to see that I'm not the only one doing this every day.

Another thing to mention is that inside all of the boxes of Refresh Celluvisc that I've bought over the last 9 months, there's been a $3 coupon for the purchase of 2 future Refresh products. I always use these to buy more drops and lube.

Thanks again Debbi.

Thanks for the comments!

Patrick, I agree - I wish I had found out the "magic" combination of drops and gel a lot sooner.  Seems that I spent the first few months buying endless eye care products that just didn't work for me.  I do still try some of the lighter drops from time to time, but they just don't work for more than about 10 minutes.

Well, hopefully this will help some of the newbies to find a solution that works.

BTW, the Refresh website also has some down loadable  coupons.  The drops aren't cheap, so I always use coupons when I am stocking up.

Debbi ~

Good job!   :)

It's encouraging to see you stepping out and attempting to spread useful information via Youtube.  You look good and your video is interesting and definitely informative for anyone dealing with dry eye, be they AN post-op patients or otherwise.  Kudos for your effort!

Well, I enjoyed the eye drop video as much as I could, although for some reason eye drops don't get me very excited.

I do, however, like your new picture, Debbi. The hat looks great!  ;D

Steve - well of course the hat looks FANTASTIC!!  It was knitted by an extremely talented guy - maybe you know him????

Jim - thanks for the kind words.  I am still a newbie to YouTube, but was surprised how easy it actually was.  I even posted the video on my AN blog - I'm feeling like quite the computer geek these days!

I bought the celluvisc and like it. Just one question though, can you put the already opened and then resealed vials in your pocket or do they leak?? Woudn't want that to happen, they ar a little pricey!

I carry a few in my pocket every day(for the last 9 months)....no leaks yet. Just make sure it's snapped back on really well.

Thanks, good timing. We are going away for a few days and I will be outside a lot and you know what that does to your eye. I do have a disposable moisture chamber that I use to but hate the stares so I only wear it when I have to. But we are going to an outdoor theater so that might not be a choice. Does anyone know where I can get more. I've looked online at the moisture chambers but they are always for both eyes. Also, I wear glasses (can't wear contacs without a blink, darn it) so I like the disposable one because it fits under my glasses. Or does anyone else have anything that works for them???

epodjn -

The "clear pirate patch" that my facial nerve specialist gave me came in a box marked Pro-Optics, Inc., 317 Woodwork Ln, Palatine, IL 60067.  I could not find a website, but their phone is 847-991-2020 and their fax is 847-991-9696.

Alternatively, you might look at the dry eye goggles at 7eye (www.7eye.com). I believe that you can have your own prescription lenses put into some of these frames. Alternatively, visit a local Harley shop and see if some of their motorcycle goggles will fit over glasses.

Good luck.

Wonderful video Debbi - thank you for sharing !
Always good thoughts,  Nancy

ps:  I never knew you can recap the vial !(I just did it).    I would hang it over my tissue box at work, my end table at home,
much easier with the cap back on - & I can put it in my suit pocket or jeans ! !
