Synkinesis pre-treatment
« on: April 05, 2009, 07:55:00 am »
Can one have facial synkinesis pre-treatment?

(Let me put that another way: I have synkinesis pre-treatment.)

In the last few days I've noticed that when I smile big or purse my lips, my AN(ish)-side eye trembles.

Does that just mean the nerve is trying to heal itself a bit?

(Am talking to doctor Tues; just wondering if this raises any particular questions I should ask. Looking online, synkinesis seems part of the healing process so I don't understand why it'd be happening now.)

Facial nerve hemangioma. Probable dx 7/2008 confirmed 4/2009. Combo middle fossa and translab to remove the blood vessel malformation and snip ruined hearing and balance nerves by Drs. House and Brackmann @ House 6/2009. Doing great!

It could be that the AN is irritating the facial nerve a little bit more.   In my case, once I was diagonised every little bit of stress would make my eye or cheek twitch.    I think we become hyper-vigilant after diagonsis, and eveything becomes a twitch or tic...
