just call me stupid...
« on: October 24, 2008, 06:22:50 pm »
I went to my 30th high school reunion last weekend.  In a nutshell, there was a DJ and very loud music most of the night.  I wanted to be able to hear people talking to me so I didn't wear earplugs.  Talk about a dumb move.  I am paying for it.  By the 3rd night, I had mild pain in the AN ear and felt what I guess was the tumor move every now and then.  May have been my imagination.  My non AN side is also effected.  The only way I can describe that is it feels like my eardrum quivers.  That's a bit nerve wracking because the AN side did the same thing months before I was diagnosed.  Yesterday and today, I've been wearing earplugs in both ears trying to get it to calm down.  Guess I'll hit up the Ibuprofen tonight.  You can bet I won't to this again...ever.  Heck by the time our 40th reunion rolls around, there will probably many more with hearing issues anyway!  Just kidding but got to find some humor in it.

I've felt that quiver thing in there!  What the heck is that anyway?   It's like something in there is "squinky".  There I made up a name.  Its very weird.

Sandra:

Don't beat yourself up about this momentary lapse in judgment - we've all done it at some time or other.  That includes me.  I doubt any real damage was done and I hope that OTC meds can help resolve your discomfort.

You're right:  by the time you have your 40th high school reunion, almost everyone there will be on Medicare.  I'm sure that many will be wearing hearing aids and/or saying 'What?' a lot.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
