successful gold eyelid weight
« on: February 22, 2007, 08:09:41 pm »
hello everyone,
just thought i would let you know that i have survived another surgery.....
this one was a breeze however, i had 1.6 grams of pure gold inserted into my left eyelid, it will hopefully help me close that eye completly, therefore combatting dryness or injury.
i had it done on wed. 2/21, went back today for follow up and got a good report. it is still a little swollen and bruised, but with ice and a little time it should look just like my good eye!
6.5cm AN;   1/23/07

facial nerve severed with complete removal of tumor.
gold eye weight;2/21/07-Dr Roberts
12-7 nerve anastomosis; 3/1/07, Dr Slattery
happy to be here; recovering well

Hey you,  great news.
You're gonna love the results
(so much better than the wide open look),
+ it'll help protect your cornea.

Best wishes on your continued healing.....    Nancy

No, the weight doesn't hurt at all.
I've been feeling like something is IN my eye
but I think it's because of the unusual swelling
I ended up with - this is NOT the norm.
I'm worried about the 6-8 weeks I'll have to do without it
until I get the platinum weight to replace the gold - I had
some kind of reaction to the gold (very unusual), so it's
'out with the gold & in with the platinum !'

Redgrl,
Go for the gold weight, you'll be glad you did.  You don't even see it.  If you look closely at Chris' right eye, you can see a little bump.  It closes the eye and prevents dryness, protects the cornea.  Protecting the cornea is essential because if scarring occurs, you will need a cornea transplant. It makes the eye look so much better.  There are so many reasons to do it.  It is a simple procedure, my gosh after all the experiences with AN surgery this is a breeze!
