Anyone had successful Retrosegmoid Surgery ?
« on: October 18, 2022, 10:44:39 pm »

 Hello everyone

I was diagnosed with Acoustic Neuroma, my doctor is telling me Retrosegmoid is the best option for my case .

Does anyone had a successful Retro approach surgery ?

By successful I mean was (able to save hearing, avoid leaks & long lasting headaches)

Hi Abdullah85!

Thank you for making your first post on the forums!

I haven't had surgery yet since I am still in the Watch and Wait mode, but my recommendation to you is to get a second (or third) opinion.  Some doctors advise their patients to do the treatment they are most comfortable with doing.  It may or may not be the best option for the patient.  The more consults you have with various professionals, the varied the opinions will be.

And I recommend that you only consult with specialists who have a lot of experience working with acoustic neuromas.  They are the ones who know what works best.  Those who do not provide treatment for acoustic neuromas very often are the ones who are most likely not able to save your hearing, avoid leaks and long lasting headaches.

Best wishes on your journey!
