Tumor Shrinking
« on: July 14, 2017, 07:46:26 am »
Hello Everyone,
Good news. I had a 16 month post operative MRI yesterday and the residual left behind reduced in size from 9 months ago. The size was 16 x 7.5 mm and is now 14 x 5.  I was hoping at best for the size to be the same and it was a great surprise. Does anyone out there have similar experience?  Does anyone have an explanation for why size of residual might decrease?  Background: 4.2 cm tumor removed retrosigmoid on March 29, 2016. No radiation.

If the residue left is attached not to the AN-nerve, then it does not have the vascularisation of the original tumor, so would have a hard time. This would push the tumor growth/necrosis balance in favor of necrosis.

I also have been having a progressive decline in the residual tumor after AN surgery in 2014! ::)
2017: 1.1 x 1.5 x 0.8 cm ( Current tumor measures)
2016 : 1.6 x 1.3 cm x 1.2 cm.
2015 :1.5 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm
2014 (july ) :1.4 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm (6 months after surgery)
2013 ( prior to Surgery in Jan. 2014) : 3.2 x 3.2 x 3.2 cm
Diagnosed AN in 2008,  3.2 cm CPA round, retrosigmoid surgery performed by Dr. M. Sisti, Columbia Pres.Hospital  NY, in Jan 2013, After surgery no major issues, Hearing retained (>50% ). However, 2 YRs post surgery MRI shows a further decrease in the size of residual AN! No GK or any therapy needed.
