newbie in houston
« on: November 10, 2015, 05:36:11 pm »
Quite frankly I was expecting the doctor to say that it is time for a hearing aid, instead I got the "right vestibular schwannoma" surprise.  My thanks to the people in this forum for helping me move out of the deer in the headlights stage.  I had my first visit with dr. Vrabec.  I am scheduled for more testing and then another session with the doctor dec 10 to discuss options.

He is the best! He removed mine March 2010. You are in the right place with the right guy who has the best team in the best hospital. He also did my BAHA implant.

My tumor, which I have named Connie, is 1.6 cm x 0.8 cm.  I have some loss of hearing in the right ear and tinnitus.  We are talking retro sigmoid.  So far I like Dr. Vrabec.  I am seeing Dr. Britz at Methodist next. He is the other half of this dynamic duo.

Dr. Vrabec is the best in my opinion.  I had mine done 12 years ago with him and no issues.  Only suffered hearing loss in my left ear which I expected.  You're in good hands with Dr. Vrabec.

I like both DR. Vrabec and Dr. Britz.  We are still talking.   But I seem to be tending towards surgery.  We will see.  I have my second MRI coming up next week

Vrabec is an "all business" type of guy. Not warm and fuzzy, but he gets  the job done. My local ENT that I visit, was trained by Vrabec and he said there is not a better doc in the country. Best of luck to you and keep us informed.
