Steroids and AN
« on: October 15, 2006, 06:03:20 am »
Hi All, will steroids help me with my walking problem? why doesn't my Neurologist prescribe them? He prescribed physical therapy. My therapist says I have to do strength training because the muscles in my right leg are weak. I have been doing these exercises every day for 2 months now but no relief. I was participating in physical therapy 2 times a week for a month. She basically had me do the exercises whenever I went to her place and they are exercises I can do at home. I need help now. I  think I can't get a job because of the way I walk even though I have no problem sitting or standing. I do office work so my job requires sitting. Thanks for your input.

hi there - i haven't heard of steroid use for balance issues, mainly to decrease swelling/inflammation.  you're 5 years post-op & still have balance issues?  i'm 4 mos. post-op, will begin balance therapy tomarrow.  i was told the vertigo lasts a year, but we're all different; i find when i'm more tired the balance problems are worse.  i went back to work 2 mos. post-op, luckily my boss & co-workers have been great.   hope you find some answers, nancy

Hi Nancy thanks for your response. I don't have vertigo. I am just unstable when I walk. I am not dizzy either. I walk like some who is drunk but I drink no alcohol at all. I didn't have surgery, I had FSR radiotherapy radiation to stop the tumor from growing and that worked. My  walking problem maybe due to MS (even though the Neurologists ruled it out) too as they have recently discovered white lesions on my brain from AN MRIs.
