1 YR. Post SRS MRI - All good
« on: March 17, 2014, 06:05:00 pm »
I had my 1 year (well 11 months, really) post single treatment Trilogy SRS neurosurgeon visit Friday. Good news, more necrosis and more shrinkage. My meningiomas are behaving themselves, too so no craniotomy for now. Next MRI is in 1 year.

I haven't seen any others recently on this forum that have had Trilogy SRS most having GK or Cyberknife but FYI, the single session Varian Trilogy treatment has been very successful for me. Just in case anyone is interested.

NB  :)
AN 18x19 mm
3 meningiomas
NF2
AN treated with SRS April 2013
MRI Feb 2016 AN shrunk to 17 x 8 mm :)
Constant tinnitus in AN ear
Severe hearing loss AN ear

Thank you very much for the update.

I am also curious to know how you feel in general, cause that's important too. Are your energy levels ok? Any increase, decrease in symptoms?

I am going through 15 treatments of radiotherapy with Linac Novalis and after 5 I am starting to feel tired and I hope after I finish I'll feel better otherwise what's the point in having treatment..

Thank you.

The point is to kill the tumor.

You might be tired for a while after you complete the course of treatment but that's mostly due to the physical and emotional strain of the experience.

9/21/16 12mm x 7mm x 5mm
3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

Joanna_an, hang in there. Mine was a single treatment so I can't speak to the experience of fractionated treatments, but I had a very rough couple of months starting about 2 months after treatment where my hearing, tinnitus and balance got worse and I was beginning to think I had made a mistake in my choice of treatment. Thankfully, around the 8 month point, symptoms got markedly better and am doing quite well now.
I agree with Jack in that the physical and emotional strain you are experiencing now coupled with your tumor basically being ticked off at what's happening to it are probably contributing to your symptoms.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks NB.
My doctor was afraid to give me even 7 treatments because of too much radiation. Hopefully I won't hit a wall that bad.
I am traveling too, about 2 hours each way, taking the train, but commuting doesn't help.
It's not too bad tho.
I just wanted to know that you feel good, besides the fact that the tumor is dying... Happy all is good!

I would be tired out too after 4 hours/day on a train!
8/2/13 - diagnosed 1.9 CM right side; 1/13/14 - MRI it got bigger!; 2/10/14 - GK; 8/18/14 - shrinking; 8/17/15 - still shrinking, reduced symptoms

Haha yeah.. I feel pity for people who need to commute everyday.. I've only done it for a week and I am even sleeping in in the morning. I took time off from work so I am not even working!
