Thanks, Jack.

A moment of silence on this day in memory of the plane crash that took the lives of 3 rock & roll stars and their pilot is proper for those of us that were around in 1959.

Buddy Holly, in particular, was a huge talent, 22 years old and just married.  A grievous loss.  Indeed, February 3rd, 1959 was for many of us, 'the day the music died'.

Thanks for helping to keep the memory alive.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Ritchie Valens was 17 and was already a rising star with three hits to his credit: Come On, Let's Go, Donna, and La Bamba.

The Big Bopper was 29, well known for Chantilly Lace, and also wrote songs for other artists.

The pilot, Roger Peterson, was 21.

And it happened in Iowa.    The plane crashed in a farm field.   Can't remember how far they were from Clear lake.         The ballroom in Clear lake has always had a yearly event to remember it.     Never read about it this year but am sure they did.      I  have seen a newspaper clip from when it happened.        Very sad.
