2nd MRI was in September
« on: November 02, 2011, 03:36:27 pm »
I had my 2nd MRI in September and the little bugger is growing faster than expected.  It grew another 2.5mm in 6 months.  In March I'll go for another MRI to measure it, and hopefully it will slow, stop, or even shrink.  I know it is a long shot to think about shrinkage, but I am trying to be optimistic.  :)  If it is still growing at the same rate, it will be time to discuss interventions.  Not what I was expecting, but I can deal with this.
Diagnosed Spring 2011 with a Left ear AN
Functional hearing in left ear is gone, constant Tinnitus, change in sensation in mouth/taste, balance issues
Being treated at MEEI  Dr. McKenna

Hi, Kathy ~

I'm sorry to learn that your AN is growing - but that isn't uncommon.  They also stop and/or slow down.  Highly unpredictable.  Your intent to discuss how to deal with it, should the growth continue, is prudent.  Like you, I hope it doesn't come to that but being mentally/emotionally prepared is always a good approach when dealing with these benign-but-changeable tumors.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

I am sorry to hear this I am getting my 2nd MRI at the end of Dec
I do not have my size I believe its a medium.
I am upset and have some different symptoms.
I have dizziness when I bend over and get lightheaded sometimes.
My sinus bleeds sometimes now and my ear feels real full.
I had to resign off of a job that I had to drive 2 hours and this is when I first noticed
my problem. I went to an several Drs before I recieved my diagnosis.
We have to stay positive.
Does anyone else have the sinus problem? And one morning I  woke up and my head
felt like mud and couldn't move for several minutes until its stop an hour later.
This is what scared me enough to go seek medical advice.
Diagnosed September 2011

JoJovb,

I am glad you are going for a second MRI soon.  It is very normal to stress out about it, but try to relax.  I haven't heard of the sinus problems that you are having, but I am very much a newbie.  I have made a list of all of my symptoms and when they started to occur, and I share that with my specialist when I see him.  The fullness in the ear was the first symptom, and then the hearing difficulties.  The dizziness and tinnitus started very soon after.  I am getting used to the symptoms.  They are my new normal.  I think it is important that you talk to your doctor about your sinus issues and your head feeling like mud.  Does your doctor have experience with AN's?
