« on: September 13, 2010, 03:28:36 pm »
Hey,

Just wanted to bring to your attention that there's a free educational event on hearing loss in Denver Saturday September 18th.

You can learn more about it here www.HearingHealthFair.com

Cheers,

Victor

Thanks for the info., Victor  ;D

Just wanted to note that this event appears to be about CIs (Cochlear Implants).  CIs are generally for those who are bilaterally (completely) deaf.  Most people on the Forum who have lost their hearing due an Acoustic Neuroma are unilaterally or single-sided deaf (SSD) which means that a CI would not be appropriate for them.

However, the sponsor of this event (Cochlear Americas) has something for those of us who are SSD called a BAHA (bone-anchored hearing aid).  I've had a BAHA for 2 1/2 years now and absolutely love it!

Cochlear has events for both BAHA and CI candidates all the time - in just about every major city in the U.S.  Those who attend them will find them very informative and a great resource for hearing loss.  Check out www.cochlearamericas.com or www.cochlearcommunity.com for listings.

Jan  (proud to be a Cochlear volunteer)

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways
