More surgery fun
« on: June 24, 2009, 06:32:14 pm »
Now that I know that Capt Deb survived her hysterectomy ,I will be brave and do it too.      Next Mon I will be doing as same as she had.     Laprascopic type which I am told is better in the long run.              I have have 3 yrs of post menopausal spotting and no cause seen.  Back in time after a D&C X 4.       I am not thrilled to have to do this at all.        I am going to a dr that did another nurse recently and she did well.    This will be in Des Moines.                I told the dr I had to be in good shape for mid Aug and he says I will be.                 I have passed this along to  few already.                I have been trying to enjoy this week all I can since will be slowed down for a bit.             Went shopping today.
Maybe no computer for a couple days will be the hard part!               I will let you know how it went once get home again.

Arrghh, sorry to hear about more surgery fun.-not.
Will keep you in prayer for a successful surgery and healing. Do you still have to have 6 weeks of low activity even with the laparoscopy  approach?

I am not sure about too many post op instructions yet.    The nurse I know who had it was off 6 weeks and she has a desk job.    Since I am retired, won't be as big a deal.     I kind of put off doing it other times as had various things going on.   So have it planned being free but ok by symposium time.                  But we are invited to a 4th of July wedding at a neighbors house so hope will get to go to it.     If not up to it,then husband will go.                         I haven't even got my surgery time as will get called Fri.    My family dr did the pre op physical.             I wish they could take care of the puffiness over my rt eye while I am out but don't think could be so lucky.    That's a some day affair too.

Hi Cheryl,

I'm hoping  your recovery from surgery will be quick and uneventful -- you know you'll be in my prayers.  I hope you manage to do some fun things before the 29th.

Hi Cheryl ......

I know you will do well ..... you are a trooper!!  No one ever wants to have more surgery (if you did, you might be referred for psychological evaluation   :-*) ...... but you will feel so much better after it is over and done with.

If all goes well ..... with a laparoscopic type, you should be able to attend the wedding by the end of the week ...... as long as you just sit still and not stand on your feet during a reception.

My prayers for a routine, uneventful procedure!

Well now no hyst surgery Mon!         Boy am I pissed.          I was never called yesterday and when called drs office in afternoon, was told that they call between 2 and 6 for time and info.           I called them then and no one there.      Called a no this am and the on call people said I am not on for Mon.        Of course some other calls I have made is on call weekend people so they don't know why.            I talked to the surgeons nurse twice to ask questions about my family  dr doing my physical and nothing said.    I have a feeling it is due to that the surgeon was gone the week after I first saw him.      The nurse called mid week with the date and that he had left a message with that date.     I have a feeling the scheduling never got done right.                 Now I have no idea how soon it will be.          Should know more Mon.   Frustrating when you were all set mentally for that date.

Cheryl ~

I'm sorry to learn that (a) you require this surgery and, (b) it was not properly scheduled due to probable incompetence on the part of doctor office personnel.  All too common, I'm afraid.  I guess good help is hard to find these days.  I hope you'll be able to get this done next week and that all will go well.

Ok, the latest is that my dr actually called me late am.      The on call dr talked to him.             This possibly happened as the date was told to me while the dr was gone for a week and the scheduling may have been screwed up although his nurse is ususally dependable.              He will check out Mon but the way the OR people told me of the case load, I doubt it.       He knows a dr had a cancellation Weds afternoon so pretty sure will work then.            I will be let know tomorrow.
My husband had a class reunion all afternoon which was hard in time due to the loud noise and not able to understand all conversations.    Was even outside at a park and we had our first cooler and not humid day in several days.
I will be glad when know for sure so can finish my last minute activities here.          Cheryl R

Cheryl,
Hopefully your surgery will follow through on Wed. Gotta be flexible. Grrrrrrrr :( :( :(
I understand how the noisy situations suck, even outdoor ones!
I almost dread get togethers anymore which is a bummer, because I really do like them.
Anyway, hopefully a few more days of nice weather to en  joy....

Yes I am Weds for sure but of course won't get a time till Tues afternoon.    This is to be in afternoon though the dr said.    He called me yesterday again.           Didn't have to do all my housework yesterday then.    LOL!         I am wondering if maybe will be inb till Fri am but of course won't know till see how it goes.       Was just supposed to be till Tues pm with the today morning surgery.               I am more nervous over pain control with this hyst then the AN surgeries as never had much pain.         The last time the neck was a problem for a while but over soon.
We finally are having nice weather.      We went from 60's to 90 all at once.       Now back to 80 and much nicer.
Will always live with the noise level issues but in my case just grateful I can hear it even with it being not quite right.

I now know surgery is at 1.                I will be at my alma mater for nursing school and haven't been back for a long time and what a way to see it again.              I will miss this site and be back after!                       I appreciate everyones good thoughts.  Thought I was done with any surgeries but at least isn't the head this time!
