A Little Giggle
« on: September 11, 2008, 03:27:33 pm »
sometimes I wonder if I will ever be "normal"

Last night I had a headache when bed time rolled around... I took a Tylenol and lay down...
about an hour later I was still hurting and decided to get up and get another pill ...

I flip on bedside light and head off to kitchen , open the fridge, take out a bottle of Dr Pepper and
pour a little in a glass ... I returned the bottle to the shelf and took two grapes off a bunch I had rinsed
and put in a bowl earlier... I pop them in my mouth and washed them down with Dr Pepper and return
to my bed...

a few minutes later realizing what I had done I threw back covers ,got out of bed and stomped down the
hall to repeat the treatment   >:( ,this time with Tylenol not grapes ... when I came back my husband
asked me what I was doing ... I told him that it was not a good time to ask me any questions ... wisely he
rolled over and went to sleep ... the Tylenol eventually kicked in and I slept...

This morning it was funny ... sort of...

Who has the line on their posts ...if I didn't laugh I would cry ...it fits...

Who knows - maybe you're onto something?  You might have accidently found the miracle cure for headaches!  Now the doctors will be saying "Take 2 grapes and call me in the morning!"   :D

Oh man, that is funny.  I mean you HAVE to be able to laugh at yourself, don't you? Besides, normal is boring.
Thanks for the laugh....

Very funny - so glad you decided to share the story!

Also a great response to your husband - not a good time to ask you any questions! (Hope you don't mind if I borrow that line sometime - I could use it a lot!)

AAARRRRR!!!!!  They was Enchanted Grapes that the Headache Wizard had snuck into your fridge!
And Soundy! what the heck are you doing drinking caffeine with headaches! That is the first thing the headache Wizard made me do--cut out all caffeine.  I switched from Dr pepper to Root beer. And believe me, I loved Dr pepper!!!!!

These days not a drop of caffeine touches my gullet except for a few chocolate chips hidden inside a few chocolate chip cookies. I fool myself with the placebo effect of a cup of decaf in the morning.

I'm calling the headache Wizard and demanding Enchanted Grapes!!!!

Captain Deb! You don't have to give up Dr. Pepper, there is caffeine-free. Caffeine free Diet Dr. Pepper was my favorite back when I could tolerate soda.

Soundy,
That was pretty funny!  I was a little slow on the uptake and didn't realize at first you were eating grapes instead of Tylenol but it did make me laugh!  Thanks for sharing.

Enchanted Grapes ... I like that ...

Actually the caffeine in small amounts helps me ... they at one point put me on some pill that
had caffeine as the main ingredient but it was too much and made me jittery... and it depends
on what headache I have ... tired tension headaches that are not AN related are helped by caffeine ...
I have been developing the fine art of what to take when and how ...not as good at it as I need
to be and hoping I get that new doctor soon to help me  figure things out better... too much caffeine
will cause a rebound headache if I don't get more caffeine in me ...

My husband drinks Diet Dr. Pepper, and he told me there are two types of Dr. Pepper--one with and one without caffeine.  Anyone who can confirm that?  I have a long history of migraine headaches, and the caffeine actually helps.    Nancy

The caffeine also helps me.  When I get a really bad migraine I take fiornal and it too has caffeine in it along with barbiturate butalbital and aspirin.  One would think I was a pharmacist ;)  Maybe that's why my 3rd son is taking all of the courses in University to be one.

If swallowing grapes whole can alleviate a headache I'll try it!  Might put a few pharmaceutical firms out of business though ;D

I need some grapes today but I'm all out :'(

caffeine helps my migraines when I had them...always left sided ...AN was on right side but I have
not had a migraine on left side since surgery...

and no I didn't swallow the grapes whole ... I crunched them ... I have to eat my grapes when they
are firm and do that little crunch or pop thing in your mouth... not green but ripe and firm... an I
confess to sampling them in the store ... I carry a pack of unscented wet wipes and a damp paper
towel in a ziplock...pluck a couple and do a quick wash and rinse and test... my husband is sure he will
have to bail me out for grand theft grape one day but I am picky and have to taste and crunch test
before I buy them...

I have found my self easily distracted lately... I can be doing something and see something else and
veer off changing course and not do what I was intending to do... I think that is what happened with
the grapes... I saw them and they distracted me long enough to momentarily forget the Tylenol ...
