Radiation Overview- how does it work / what are the risks
« on: December 05, 2005, 01:23:10 am »
While I was surfing tonight I also found some more information on the CK society web page that was new and gave , what I thought, was good information on the following

Overview of Radiation Medicine
Table of Contents
•    What is Radiation Oncology? How does radiation work to control cancer?
•    How is radiation treatment delivered?
•    What are possible side effects from radiation treatment?
•    Can radiation treatment cause cancer?
•    Will radiation cause damage to normal tissue too?
How is risk of radiation damage to normal tissue minimized?
•    How are newer radiation technologies different?

The link to article is http://www.cksociety.org/PatientInfo/radiation_medicine.asp#radtreatmentcc

Some of these are among the most common questions and concerns for anyone considering radiosurgery as a treatment option. Thought this might be helpful for those doing their research.
