5 Year Post FSR MRI
« on: March 05, 2008, 05:09:34 pm »
Just checking in to report that I had my 5 year MRI after having FSR (30 treatments of 180) at the University of MN in 2003.  My AN was 1.6, left ear.  It had been two years since my last check-up and everything was the same- no change in the AN, which is what I was hoping for.  I still have about 40% hearing in the affected ear (no change) and no other symptoms (other than that darn tinnitus :-\  ) .

So I am quite pleased with my treatment choice and do not have to return for another two years.
Best wishes,
Ron

Wonderful news Ron - isn't it such a relief to know 'so far so good'?

I've had my 1 year post AN MRI - I was scared to death but so glad to hear 'no tumor regrowth'

5 years. Sigh. It seems like such a long way off to me...

It's great to hear that it everything is holding steady, I always like to hear the good post radiation reports.

What does 30 treatments of 180 mean? I thought they reported them as Grays, like 30 x 2 Gy. Is the 180 a different unit? Just curious.

Congratulations.

Steve

Hearing lasted a while, but left side is deaf now.
Right side is weak too. Life is quiet.

Steve
I had Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery with a linear accelerator and at the time, they were using the term 'rads.  I just did a quick Wikipedia search and learned that the National Institute of Standards and Technology now discourages the use of 'rads' and uses the term 'grays'.  100 rads are equal to one gray.  I had 5,400 rads spread over 30 treatments, so I guess that I had 54 grays.  Now if we were talking gray hair, I have a lot more than that...in fact, all of them!   ;D

Thanks everyone for the kind words.  I wish the best for each of you also,
Ron

Ron,

Greta..great news!  Something we all wish to hear in 5 years.  I noticed you are a newbie, but are you the same Ron who used a handle of dealy a few years ago.

Mema
I am not the Ron aka "dealy".  I am just a lurker and infrequent poster.  This board has been a great resource and comfort to me, especially in the first year or two of this adventure.  I appreciate everyone's support.
Thanks!
Ron
