Good News!
« on: October 09, 2007, 09:08:27 pm »
Today I had my last MRI for at least a year. I've been having one every 3 to 4 months since they surgically removed the 4CM AN in June 2006. There was a little tumor left on the bone from my surgery and they have been watching it for the past year. The great news is it has not grown so I don't need to have an MRI until October 2008. My double vision was corrected this summer and the only issue that remains is facial paralysis. I am a happy camper!

I appreciate all the wonderful information shared and support you all have provided. For you "newbies" you will improve! My advise is to "stay positive, be strong and keep your faith". Life will be back to normal real soon. Don't give up!

TP,
Excellent news.   I'm particularly glad to hear that your double vision has corrected itself.   Hopefully the tumor remnant is down for the count.   I often wonder what makes some remnants grow and some don't.  Perhaps if the remnant has no blood supply, it can't grow.
Regards,
 Rob

Hi, TP:

Congratulations on the good news from your MRI scan!  We had surgery at almost the same time and although I didn't have many post-op complications, I can appreciate the fact that your tumor remnant is not growing.  I've had 5 MRI scans since my surgery - two connected to the FSR treatments I underwent last autumn - and will have another in December.  If that shows continued tumor remnant shrinkage and necrosis, I'll be getting an annual MRI, like you.  Even though I don't really mind having the MRI scans, that will still be good news for me, as it was for you.  Again: congratulations.  :)

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
