Movement
« on: August 10, 2007, 08:54:08 am »
Good Morning,

I haven't posted in awhile. What is the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it", and "Attitude is Everything".

Well here goes my update:

I AM VERY EXCITED, this morning.  Last night I could move the left side of my mouth without the use of my tongue.  I had the 12/7 one year ago, 8/3/06, and I have been able to move my mouth with the use of my tongue for about six months or so. But now I see and have a little movement without moving my tongue!  If I concentrate on what I am doing it moves and I get the laugh lines on the left side of my mouth.  YIPPEE!!!!!

I also have tearing in my left eye. Not enough to quit using the lube completely, but enough, that I don't use it too much during the day.

It has been over two years since my "AN journey" began, and I have to say, while I still get pissed about my whole situation, it is VERY NICE to see some changes happening.

My self-confidence is finally growing, and I think I am finally getting used to the new me, still have a few emotional issues about it, but am feeling better overall.

Just wanted to share,
Denise

YEEEAAAA  DENISE !   Way to go you doll baby you!!!!  So happy for you!!!!!!!
I gotta tell ya, I'm so scared to do anymore nerve surgeries,  I've decided on facial work instead - the sling to the right cheek, face lift, etc.   I know my surgeon wants to go the way of 12/7 when my facial nerve stops showing any signs of firing, but I am sooo scared !!!  I know I still won't have any movement when it's all said & done.   Wish I had your strength with this one....    Again, wishing you continued movement !!!!!   Always good thoughts, Nancy

Hi Denise,

Good for you!  It is a wonderful thing when you can write about some good progress.  You are two years out and are still recovering.  I am sure you are happy finally making  tears!!! That has got to be a nice change.

These nerves do take their sweet time in repairing themselves..... I am 18 months out and I see progress all the time. I went to a specialist this week and he told me he expects to see continued improvement.

I wish you much more recovery!!!

Hey Denise,
You know I've been following you since you had the 12/7 graft.  So glad to see you are getting some noticeable movement and without the tongue !  I'm so happy for you.  I know the long road that we are on.

Chris goes to the facial nerve center again tomorrow.  I too hope to see remarkable improvement for this month.  I'm seeing a little bit more all the time.  They claim he should go thru a noticeable improvement phase here soon.  I see little subtleties. I definitely see major tone and his mouth is coming up.  He has been blowing up a balloon all month.. to most people that would not be a great accomplishment but I'm sure you'll appreciate it.  He had the surgery at the end of last October.

NancyAnn, did you decide to go with the sling option ? Let me know how that goes.

Denise, Congratulations on the progress you are getting.  I have been reading your posts since I first got online in fall of 2005.  It is wonderful to know that your perseverance, not to speak of your pocketbook, have brought you to this point.  You are an inspiration!
