What happened to Nate the PC Guy?
« on: January 30, 2007, 05:21:50 am »
Whatever happened to Nate?  Does anyone know if he is okay or what is going on in his life?  I haven't seen a post from him in quite a while.  I miss the graphics and all that he had to say.  NAte, Nate, wherever you are...just say hi to let us know you're okay.

Yes, I've wondered about Nate too. And do you remember those posts from the military wife out on the island and her husband was so sick and the military was kind of being a poop about getting him some treatment and we told her to throw a FIT and finally they were going to take him to Germany for evaluation to find out what was wrong with him.  I think about them every now and then and wonder whatever happened with that story.  Gosh, sometimes we get the beginning of the story and not the end!!  I hope it all came out okay for them.

Curious minds want to know.......

Hi -

I have not seen Nate since he moved and checked in once or twice.

Sue:  I do remember seeing the final post from those people that were in the Azores.  It was not an AN and if I remember right it was some kind of virus....I can't remember their username either....

Nate moved across country as far as I know.  He was looking for a new job.  The last time I wrote with a question (a month or two ago) about his Phonak CROS he was too busy to say more than a few words.  He'd lost his aid in the move.  I assume he found a job that made him really busy.

I knew that he had moved to Kansas City, but I hope we haven't heard from him because he got a really great job and is busy.

Hi Sue:  Found it in November - username 5frys:

Mike here...first let me thank you all once again for all your advice and encouragement.  The MRI that I had done in Germany showed no AN, so we spent several more days there going back and forth between the ENT and the neurologist to try to figure out what was going on.  It seems that the conscensus of both doctors is that when I became ill in Iraq it was some sort of virus that caused a severe infection in my inner ear.  This was the ENT's explaination for the tinitis and other ear related symptoms.  The neurologist has the same opinion of what is causing the "tingling" sensation on my face.  In a sense it makes sense to me that a viral infection affecting the same area where an AN would be would result in similar symptoms as AN, so we're hoping the diagnosis is correct.  The neurologist is treating the nerve related symptoms by prescribing neurotin.  As for the ear related problems, the ENT didn't give much hope of any treatment other than saying things need to run their course and the tinitus may never go away.

So, once again thanks for all of the support out there.  This truly is a wonderful and compassionate thing you've got going on here...keep it up!

Mike sends.
