I agree...I don't see this happening with other sites...why?  Maybe it's time that all first time 'newby' posts were filtered by admin in the first instance to vet whether they are bona fide?

I agree . There are more spams than real topics lately! It is bad enough to get dozens of emails daily trying to sell viagra and valium etc at home  and then have to face some more junk on this site ! How can it be stopped ?

I have just forwarded an email to Judy Vitucci, Executive Director of ANAUSA, notifying her of the discontent amongst members re the continual SPAM posts and inviting her to adopt a vetting system that will prevent this from happening and re-occurring.

I will make you aware of any response that I receive.

I belong to another board and for the 6+ months I have been on that board there has never been an instance of SPAM.  This is because all new members must be approved by the webmasters and because the board is monitored daily.  I would love something like that here.  I find the frequent bogus posts irritating and rude, as I am sure most of you do as well.

I hope we can clear this all up

I've reported at least 6 spam postings in the past 24 hours.  It's becoming a real annoyance.  I've let the administrator know that this is becoming a problem and will have a very negative effect on the forum if not stopped.

Vetting newbies can be done and certainlty more stringent monitoring is becoming necessary.  It's clear that the messageboarsd is being targeted by spam artists and that will eventually render it useless, if not stopped - now.  I, for one, don't care to wade through a bunch of garbage just to find a 'real' post.  Enough!
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

I hope you all didnt think my http://www.killkuato.com was a scam, doing this helped me externalize the tumor and keep it outside my body while I made fun of it.

Hi there Ixta...

Quite acceptable (if you are into that sort of thing!) as whilst it is a humorous approach (and we need plenty of that) it is nevertheless AN related as distinct from a totally unrelated SPAM post.

This isn't as bad as it could be. One of my NF boards has had more than 150 in the last week. One of our members suggested (very toungue in cheek) that we start a seperate section for porn and spam posts. Maybe they'd put all their stuf there.   ;D

I would like to know if i can remove these thing even from my list of forum topics.  My son sometimes sits with me while I'm on line and sees what's on the screen. My screen is set to a large font and you would have to be blind to miss some of the porno and drug forum boxes.
How to...is the question....

Hi Lisa...

I share your valid concerns re youngsters and others inadvertently seeing this garbage. I am no techno wizard re computers and do not have a ready answer but really it should not be necessary for us to have to devise such methods as the website administrators could quite easily rectify the situation. It is now some 5 days since they assured me that a fix was iminent but we are still being inundated with this unwanted intrusion on a daily basis. I intend contacting the administrators again next week if there is still no improvement.

Hi everyone

I do not really have any answers as to how to fix this problem being a total technophobe. One idea though might be for everyone to have a secure password to access this site We would all have to give our e mail adresses and personal details which would be kept secure. In the UK Bana had a very active AN forum before they changed the site to access to members only by password which has had the unfortunate effect to reduce the number of letters considerably. I hope that an agreeable solution is found sooner rather than later .
