I recently had a translab surgery for AN on my left ear at Iowa. I have read about NF2 on this forum, but do not understand that condition well. Did any one here get tested for NF2 after AN diagnosis on one side? What is the general protocol regarding testing for NF2 after unilateral AN? Is age a factor too? I am 47. Thanks!

Hi Autumnbird!

I hope your recovery is going well.  I would love to hear an update!

This post is older, but I hate it when an ANA member posts a good question and no one answers it. And I don't know that I can answer it well for your, but my ENT did not test for NF2 because my MRI only showed an AN on one side only.  Since no AN showed on the other side, he had no desire to test for NF2.  I did not ask him if he would have done NF2 testing if something appeared on both sides of the MRI.  But maybe someone who has had NF2 testing could answer your question better.

Best wishes on your journey!

While watching and waiting, lost significant hearing. WRS now at 12% (down from 100%). Was fitted with CROS system on 3/7/22.  Stable MRI on 7/29/22
No treatment yet.
