Decompression for presumed facial schwannoma
« on: April 19, 2021, 07:22:41 pm »
Hi there,

I'm 31 and was recently diagnosed with a ~2.5 cm presumed facial schwannoma. Im currently a HB II, so Gamma Knife has been recommended as surgical removal of the tumor would likely result in significant facial weakness or paralysis. I had a consultation with Dr Friedman at UCSD, and he mentioned decompression to possibly alleviate some of my symptoms. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with decompression, either with or without GK?

Thanks,
Rivka
