Motor Evoked Potential monitoring
« on: May 30, 2019, 12:44:58 pm »
I wanted to share with everyone about my wonderful surgeon's procedure that preserved my facial nerve functions (HB 2.5 post op). I believe anyone considering surgery should look into it. It is especially amazing since it was my second surgery. He uses something called "Motor Evoked Potential" to monitor my facial nerve. He monitors all 3 major ends of the facial nerve. During the surgery he will not let the MEP decrease by more than 50% on any of the 3 branches. If he can achieve that, then there's a good chance of facial preservation within 1 year post op.
