BAHA
« on: November 21, 2006, 01:01:54 pm »
After 16 months, my BAHA site is still not well healed. Hair gets wrapped around abutement and site gets inflammed. Dr. Backmann at HEI recc. peroxide and neosporin, but that doesn't help a lot. Now using sulfur powder from dermatologist,  any suggestions??

Thanks      samlrush@yahoo.com

is your hair curly? my short straight hair is no problem ..

How often do you "brush" it? .. I'm twice a week .. maybe more often to make sure hair is not caught or around the post...

Sam, maybe that base carrier for the neosporin is causing some irritation of its own.  Also, maybe there is a better substance than peroxide.  That is very drying to the tissues.  A pharmacist might have some good information.  Ever try Hibiclens? (antiseptic cleansing soap in a blue bottle).

I don't have a whole lot of hair around the abutment area. I've never really had any problems with mine. I would try a different brand of antiseptic ointment like Boppie suggested, maybe that's what is irritating it?! Good luck

Twice a day? I wonder if thats too much! ... are you male? ... could a very short cut of your hair might help ? at least until it heals correctly ...
