Aetna Cancer Insurance
« on: January 11, 2017, 12:23:05 pm »
Does anyone know whether these benign AN tumors are still considered cancer and whether cancer insurance would provide its payout?  I have been recently diagnosed and am awaiting my scheduled surgery. I have cancer insurance and thought hey, if I have to go through brain surgery, it would be nice to get something for it. Of course I can call and continue to search but right now, with how bad I feel, I thought I deserve to take an easy route. Thanks for any help.

Diagnosed 12/23/16, 20mm
Awaiting surgery with Chang/Blevins at Stanford

This is from http://www.macmillan.org.uk/information-and-support/brain-tumours/understanding-cancer/types-of-brain-tumour/acoustic-neuromas.html

Understanding acoustic neuromas. ... An acoustic neuroma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumour that usually grows slowly. A benign tumour can cause problems as it grows by pressing on surrounding tissue. But, unlike a malignant (cancer) tumour, it can't spread from where it started to other parts of the brain.

It doesn't look as if an AN is considered cancer.
