Headache caused by ultrasound?
« on: February 20, 2016, 12:17:13 pm »
I am 2-1/2 years post op. Before my surgery I had frequent (1-2 per month) headaches and migraines. Since my surgery I am very happy to say that I rarely get a headache, and have had just 1 migraine--until last night. Yesterday I had an executive physical, and among many, many other tests (including an audiogram, which still shows perfect hearing on my good side!), I had a vasular screening. This consists of ultrasound on various parts of your body looking for blockages or signs of an aneurysm. They spend a lot of time going up and down your carotid artery on each side of your neck. Last night and into this morning I had a migraine mostly on my affected side along with vomiting. So now I'm wondering if it could have irritated a nerve or something. I just hope I haven't unleashed a beast, because I have been quite blessed not to endure debilitating headaches, which seem fairly common after retrosigmoid surgery. Has anyone had any experience in this area?
2.7 cm meningioma in CPA and IAC
Retrosig June 2013 resulted in Facial paralysis and SSD
6-mo post-op MRI showed 1.0 cm remains in IAC
3-yr MRI still shows no new growth!
6/2014 Baha magnet implanted; 8/2014 magnet removed due to poor healing; 9/2014 abutment installed. Hearing fine!
