Dr. Daniel Pieper - Michigan
« on: May 04, 2015, 12:31:24 pm »
I just saw the obituary in the Detroit News today for Dr. Daniel Pieper.  He was the Neurosurgeon for my surgery back in 2009 and would have been my surgeon again later this year.

I haven't seen him in years and I was shocked to see he had died.  He was only 50 years old.  I have no idea if he was ill or not.

Felt like I needed to share this info for those of you who may have been a patient of Dr. Pieper.

He was an excellent surgeon and was super kind to me.

Such sad news.
Retrosigmoid on 02-06-09 by Dr. LaRouere (Michigan Ear Institute) and Dr. Pieper.  Perfect hearing, perfect balance, no tinnitus and no headaches before surgery.  Right SSD, loud tinnitus and crazy headaches after surgery.  BAHA surgery 07-29-09 ~ still working on tune-ups...don't love it ~ YET!!

Dr. Pieper was very successful in Michigan. He often teamed up with doctors at Michigan Ear Institute where I was diagnosed in June 2015.

My primary care doctor claims the last three Michigan surgeons who specialized in AN treatment apparently all passed away while only in their 50's.

Dr. Pieper even performed surgery on Christmas Eve to fit people in to his schedule.
5/19/2015 - 40% sudden hearing loss + tinnitus right ear

6/26/2015 - AN diagnosed by MRI - 14mm x 7mm + 3mm extension

8/26/2015 - WIDEX "ZEN" hearing aid for my catastrophic tinnitus

12/15/2015: 18mm x 9mm + 9mm extension (5mm AGGRESSIVE GROWTH in 5 months)

3/03/2016:   Gamma Knife - Dr. Sheehan
