chin cramping?
« on: March 20, 2015, 01:32:40 pm »
my chin cramped/spasmed today on the paralyzed side - my chin kind of pulled up and compressed in a very noticeable way for about a minute. Does this mean anything - good or bad - for my facial paralysis?  I don't have any voluntary  movement on that side and am still rather early in recovery (6 weeks post trans-lab op).

Hi Eve,

I had a similar feeling about a week ago (i too am 6 weeks post op) like a sharp pin in my chin then another in my eye brow. It hasn't happened again. I asked my neurosurgeon about it last week and he didn't offer much in the way of positive feedback, but in my own mind it must be a sign of something happening inside our faces. Stay positive, hard for me to say when i am not feeling so positive this week. I have just seen video of my face and speech at my daughters 2nd birthday and it was a harsh reality of what people now see. I do believe though, if we stay positive we can help the healing.

I would love to stay in touch on your progress and share stories if you are up for it.

I would definitely take it as a positive sign. It's still very early, but I don't think your chin could cramp if the nerves weren't regenerating. Good luck with your continued recovery!
2.7 cm meningioma in CPA and IAC
Retrosig June 2013 resulted in Facial paralysis and SSD
6-mo post-op MRI showed 1.0 cm remains in IAC
3-yr MRI still shows no new growth!
6/2014 Baha magnet implanted; 8/2014 magnet removed due to poor healing; 9/2014 abutment installed. Hearing fine!

Hi Eve

I would love to hear how you are progressing too. I am currently having acupuncture twice a week and feel like the tone in my affected side is improving (at least others keep telling me that too). I am having my nerves tested at the end of this month and have hope this will tell me there is regeneration happening.

How are you doing? Anything specific you are doing to help your face?
