Nasal Drip
« on: October 04, 2006, 05:34:40 pm »
I am curious to know if any of you have experienced nasal   drip after your surgery.   Iam experiencing the above and visited an (ear nose and throat ) specialist to-day and he told me I had fluid  in the ear drum which he thinks is CSF.  He is sending me for a Cat scan.  I had surgery in1981 and had 2 leaks at that time.  Would be glad to hear from you and what was done to correct it.   Thanks!

My nose runs everytime I eat.  I'm a year post op.  I haven't had a csf leak but when I first mentioned the nose thing my surgeon thought so, my ent checked me out and just said it's the nerves going haywire.  Makes for a wonderful impression on my dinner dates  LOl

Yea, I get the drip too. Two years post op. Seemed to start about a month or so ago. ALl of a sudden, I feel my nose running. Usually but  Not always my An side, but always just one nostril or the other, never both at the same time. Kind of weird.  haven't checked with a Dcos yet. can't imagine it's a leak so far after surgery. let us know what your cat scan tells you. maybe i sghould get mine checked.

Hi Everyone,  On Oct,17th I had surgery in Halifax NS.after my Cat scan showed that I had a leak  so my surgeon there Dr.Bance made an inscison behind the ear and packed it.  I was in hospital 4days and drove over300mi. to return home.which was a bit  tiring.   I had the cat scan on the 13th and the 16th got a call to be at hospital the next am.  We left that evening so to be there on time.  After Dr Bance showed us (my husband and son)  the exact area where the problem was I was admitted and went into surgery that evening.  I had a terrific Dr. and am doing very well.  I have returned and had the stiches out and all is going well.  Dr. Bance has a web sight and is a very smart DR.     After 25 years it is a mystery why this happened  if it was something I did or whatever.  At 70years old I can tell you I didn't need it.... but then we dont always have choices.   All take care and God bless.

I experience nasal drip, too. Mostly on An side. Never all the the time. Sometimes after eating;  sometimes after being out in a cold wind;  sometimes I haven't got a clue what brought it on.

I do know this did not happen a couple of years ago (which puts the time frame a bit pre An discovery... and that took ages.... plus post treatment which was radiation).....

I had radiation....I have a drippy nose on the AN side.  I've come to the conclusion that it's connected to the AN and the nerves being messed up, as some of you suggest.  I have also noticed that if something brings me to tears (usually an Oprah program!) I will feel the tears coming on the AN side, but nothing much happens...and the other eye will have tears running down my face.  So, then I thought - What?  The tears are being directed to my nose?

Really weird.

I got this same problem! I always thought it was because I had my nose pierced at 19 which is where they actually pierced through the septum. I had this while i was still dumb and young well I still am but gained a good 5% more maturity in the last few years lol but anyway I always thought this was odd that will happen when I eat. I guess im not alone.

For some AN patients, if the facial nerve was tramatized, have nasal congestion and/or eye tearing on the AN side when they eat.
