Hearing Aids
« on: April 15, 2013, 07:32:01 pm »
I just wanted to pass on some great information for those of us that have to wear hearing aids.  First let me say I am not employed by this company, but the product is so good I have to share with those that might be facing buying hearing aids.

My old aids gave up so I needed to find new ones.  After researching and talking to many, going on line and so on, I found what is a great product.  The hearing aids are made by Oticon.  In my opinion what sets them apart from others is their advanced "ConnectLine" technology.  They offer a product called a "Streamer".  What it can do is connect your cell phone directly to your hearing aids.  In other words it acts as a "bluetooth".  But you can also add other devices to your TV, lineline phone, and music devices.  Of course each one is an additional cost.

I just got mine and I have it connected to my cell phone.  When my cell rings it rings directly in the hearing aid.  You push a button and just start talking.

Those of us that have hearing aids understand at times you cannot understand what the person is saying on the phone, that problem is solved with this device.  As I said you can even by an adapter for your landline phone and it will do the sames.  Sent the call directly into your hearing aids.

Technology has gotten much better over the years, but these are truly amazing.

There's a lot of competition in the hearing aid industry.

Phonak has the same type of equipment available.

3/15/18 12mm x 6mm x5mm
9/21/16 12mm x 7mm x 5mm
3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

Just bought the Phonak BiCros today, will be in in two weeks can't wait.  I was very impressed when the audiologist was demonstrating it to me by standing behind me whispering behind my left (AN) ear; I could hear her!!!!   :D

I bought the top of the line & the audiologist said that it's two generations newer than the "test" set she tried on me so here's hoping.

I've had the Phonak BiCros for about 4 months now, these things are amazing, I'm hearing sounds I haven't heard since I woke up deaf in my left ear almost 6 years ago. They do like batteries though but being able to hear is worth it.

Good to hear praise for the BiCros.  The audiologist did tell me that they will "eat" batteries but she also said she'd give me a three year supply.   ;)

I thought I'd have to wait two weeks but the ENT's office called today, made an appointment for me to get my new "ears" this Monday!  Can't wait.  If they're as good as the test ones I tried I'll be a happy camper.

Did you get the hand held remote with yours?  Audiologist said it can be used to adjust sound / noise levels.  Hope it works better than the one I bought with my existing Phonak hearing aids about five years ago.  I actually returned that remote because for the extra $350 it didn't do what I wanted / needed.

Amazon has a good deal on batteries. Power One P312. 60 batteries for $19.99.

The Phonak MyPilot remote control is very versatile. I've been using it for almost a year.
