Cyber Knife
« on: March 04, 2020, 05:03:52 pm »
Hi.
Sorry if this question has been asked before...  I have a AN that is 2.1x1.9x1.4 cm.  I have just seen a team at the University of Colorado and they recommended surgery.  I would REALLY like to avoid that.

For anyone who has had the Cyber Knife treatment... what size was your AN?  Is mine "too big" for CK?   I'd like to go see the doctors at Stanford for a second opinion.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Diagnosis 12/26/2019  2.1 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm left side AN, hearing 90%… and declining.
Daily headaches resolved with help of neurologist.
Cyberknife July 2020 at Stanford.  Dr. Chang.

Your tumor is not too big for Cyberknife.

Neurosurgeons will recommend you have open surgery. Radiosurgeons will recommend that you radiosurgery. I would suggest you wait to see if your tumor is still growing.

Hi Colorado Alex -

I agree with ANSydney in that the specialist you meet with will recommend whatever their specialty is.  I would suggest that you also consider meeting with a radiosurgeon and listen to what they have to say.  And it never hurts to meet with more than one team.  I went to 2 different facilities, felt way more comfortable with the facility that treats a higher volume of ANs, and then met with the surgical and radiosurgical teams before deciding on Gamma Knife (single dose) radiosurgery. You need to do what you feel will work best for you!  Wishing you luck on your journey!

Thank you both for your comments.   I am hoping to go see more experts...perhaps at Stanford and maybe at the Barrow institute.  Maybe both!
