Translab Surgery 1 Week Ago!
« on: March 08, 2012, 08:23:08 am »
Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on my experience.  I went through the translabyrinthine surgery last Thursday to remove a 2cm tumor from the left side of my head.  Surgery lasted about 8 hours and they believe they were able to get everything out without impacting the facial nerve. I had some nausea immediately after surgery but was feeling much better the following morning.  No major complications since.  I am taking short walks each day and getting used to working on the computer again.  The headaches and fatigue are the most frustrating thing at this time, but it gets a little better every day.  I will be seeing the doctor tomorrow for my first follow-up and I believe they will be removing these ugly stitches.  Overall, I couldn't be happier with my outcome so far and truly feel blessed!   :)

tx-anp ~

Congratulations on a successful, relatively complication-free Translab AN surgery!  Thanks for taking the time to share your good news with us - and may your recovery continue apace.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

That's wonderful news. I'm so glad to hear things went so smoothly for you! I'm having translab surgery on May 11th to remove a 1.3cm tumor so it's encouraging to hear positive outcomes like yours.  :)

Congrats on being a postie, Tx.

Word of advice on the SSD - if you find that you just can't cope with it (I definitely couldn't) look into a BAHA.

I had a BAHA implant 9 months post AN op and it's been something I've never regretted.

BAHAs rock!

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways
