Dry eye on Vacation - some holiday tips ?
« on: July 21, 2006, 12:17:37 am »
This is for all those who have "dry eye" and plan a holiday.
I suppose, first, you should check the following with your Doc etc.
So, One - I always take two complete sets with me when travelling
one set in the main luggage, second set with the hand luggage.
Unlikely I/you will lose both sets.
(and one set is never more than 10 feet away)
Two, for pools (with bleach in them) or the sea (salt water)
use extra amounts of the night time medication -IN THE DAY.
Basically the thicker jelly type will, to a degree, protect against
splashes (both types of water will be painfull if you cant blink)
the normal daytime stuff will flush out in minutes.
No - you wont see so well, but less trauma all-round.
Three, wear sunglasses most of the time
The protection from water and wind is not 100% - buts its much
better than none at all.
I usually buy 4-5 pairs from the $1 shop for the summer
(and lose or break 3-4 of them)
Not really a Rayban person am I ?
Happy Vacation
Tony

Tony,

fantastic tips and appreciated!  Concern also for long haul flights (for me, I define as anything over 2 hrs)... air pressure and dryness in airplanes may potentially bother, so suggestion would be to make sure you apply just prior to boarding flight and reapply as necessary during flight.

Great tips and bon voyage to anyone traveling on summer (or, sorry Laz, winter) holiday!

I have a overseas vacation trip plan in a couple weeks!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I will have on my person at least a weeks worth of Systane (and more in my bag as backup!)  Planning to pick up some Lacri-Lube for night time (I have not used the stronger Lacri-Lube for a couple months, but while on vacation I'm not leaving anything to chance) .  I have not done any swimming since my AN surgery .. but I would guess its ok, but would need drops as soon as I get out of the water before it drys out.

To add to the above excellent suggestions.  We found the wrapped around to the side of the head sun glasses to be a great help from the wind and rain.  Not sure they can be found in the  Dollar stores,  < one of my favorite stores>  but can be found in most sporting good type stores for a reasonable amount of money.  Fishing dept will also have some, skiers section. Just that little extra bit of protection from the sun and wind.

Joef, and Tony have a wonderful vacation. !!!!  as i wimper I wanna go too.

Have a great day

I just got back from vacation last night to Michigan.   We picked up our daughter in Lansing and went up to Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island.       Very nice trip.      I never made it as far in the water as to try and swim as discovered when I even walked in the lake it made me all off balance and could barely walk in the water.    Drat!               Oh well, enjoyed just sitting on the lounger and watching the water.                              Cheryl R.

Thanks Tony

We leave May 19 on vacation and I have the wrap around sunglasses ordered, with moisture chambers built in, coming. Hope they get here in time.  I have already stocked up on the eye drops and got a straw hat. We need this vacation BAD, after all we have been through this year!
