Watching and waiting, but trying to plan
« on: May 12, 2015, 10:14:53 pm »
Has anyone had gammaknife at Duke University or Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in NC?
What were the outcomes and who were the physicians?   Does anyone know if either of those
facilities offer free consults?   Does anyone have any reason to chose one of these treatment
facilities over the other?  Still watching and waiting, although last MRI showed 3mm of growth in
seven months.

Hi Janey .....

I have a friend who had gammaknife at Wake Forest BMC for her AN several years ago with good results.  I do not remember the name of her doctor but I will try to find out and let you know.

Here is the info:  She was treated at Wake Forest BMC by Stephen Tatter, MD, for the Gamma Knife surgery, although she saw and obtained opinions from several other physicians.  Dr. Tatter felt Gamma Knife was the best procedure for her at that time (something she was very glad to hear!)   She heartily recommends him.  Hope that information helps.

Thank you very much, Clarice, for the information.  I will check into this.  My daughter lives in
Greensboro, NC, about a half an hour from Wiinston-Salem.  It would be so convenient.
I appreciate all the attention you give to so many posts, and value your input.  This forum is
truly a "calling" to which you are dedicated!  Thanks again.

I watched a video featuring Dr. Stephen Tatter, MD, PhD, neurosurgeon, and Dr. Michael Chan, MD from Wake Forest BMC. They appear to have an amazing team.

Thank you for this info, Mcrue.  I have another MRI scheduled in March and I am, of course,
hoping for stability.  I will check out this video.  Luck to you!
