3yrs 9mnths W&W now Translab 17/5
« on: April 13, 2011, 04:40:49 pm »
Hi

After 3 yrs & 9 months in W&W I am now scheduled for surgery on the 17th May to have Translab as my balance has deteriorated significantly in the past 3 weeks.  I was very comfortable in W&W but now its a reality check; I've even had a small cry.  I will post after surgery and let you know how it goes but I am comforted that I understand the journey before me because of all the AN members generously sharing their stories; thank you.

Regards

Kimbo   :o

Kimbo .....

A major step for you after waiting and watching for so long.  In a way, I am in the same boat as I was watching an "area of enhancement" that was evident on the first post-op MRI from surgery 3 years 2 months ago.  When my symptoms increased and the MRI showed growth, I knew waiting time was over.  I'm scheduled for translab on May 11th ..... and yes, it did suddenly create a reality check.  Be sure to let us know how the waiting time goes ..... as well as posting after surgery.  It helps others coming along with us on this journey.

Everything is pretty much in order for me ..... except for cleaning out some things that have needed to be cleaned out for a long time.  Now I just have this "nesting" reflex kicking in ..... better than sitting around thinking too much, I say.  What about you?

Many thoughts and prayers.  Clarice

Thanks Clarice for your well wishes and I have thoughts and prayers for you.

You have had a difficult journey and to go through it all again you must be a strong woman.  I am still working full time and will take 1 week recreation leave prior to the surgery date to do my nesting thing.  I really would like things to be sorted out at home so I can come home without concern and give myself the time i will need to recover.  I am just getting my head around the idea of what to take to hospital, arranging accommodation for my family (hospital is 4 1/2 hours away) and I'm going to treat myself to a massage the week before.

Look after yourself.

Hi Kimbo.

Sending lots of positive thoughts and wishes for good luck. Taking a week off from work before surgery is probably one of the best things you can do ;)

Best regards, Kenneth

Thanks Rivergirl - I wish you the best of luck, I having been reading your past posts and you have done extremely well to put up with the balance issues for as long as you have.  Other than hearing loss, tinnitus and hypersensitive hearing (worst symptom) I have had a pretty good run but now with the balance issues and a walking stick (ugh) its not so good.  Its funny how we feel we need to nest when major stuff is pending, I remember loading the dishwasher and doing some washing in the middle on the night when I was in labour with my second child and unknowns to us I gave birth unexpectedly on the loungeroom floor 1 hour later.

Take care and treat yourself to some me time.

Kimbo :)

Kimbo.

Here it is May 17th and wondering if you are in surgery or it's all over. In either event, I sure hope you are doing well. Prayers.
