One year post proton radiation MRI
« on: December 15, 2010, 05:01:07 pm »
It was uneventful.  Dr. Loeffler said the tumor looks the same as it always did.  He was very happy about my hearing improvement but had no explanation for it.  The vibe I got was, "why ask why, just be happy" which I am.  He did say something interesting to his student to the effect of "Most of these tumors are on a nerve.  Radiation usually causes the hearing to get worse.  My tumor is a blood vesel on the temporal bone."

As much as I love MGH, I'm very happy to not have to go back for 18 months.

Proton Radiation for my hemangioma at MGH December 2009.  Hearing has improved.  Doing great!

Laura ~

What a splendid Christmas present!  Congratulations to you and may your every future MRI have as positive an outcome.  :)

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
