Hi all new to forum not new to Acousic Neuroma.
« on: December 08, 2010, 08:36:45 am »
Hi all I had my surgery back in July 1990. I  too have the ringing in the ears 24/7 and balance issues and Minears Disease. My Dr Gale W miller in Cinn Ohio put me out on perminent disability from the USPS on Sept 2001. Since then Dr Miller has passed away. I would like any recomendations as to Dr's in the Cinn/ Dayton Ohio area. I live closer to Dayton than Cinn, Ohio. I did get all my medical records from Dr Miller after he passed away. He was a member or on the scientific board of the ATA as well. Thanks-Dave

Dave .....

I do not live in the Cincinnati area, but I want to welcome you to this forum.  WOW, ten years out already!!  Sorry you are still troubled with the tinnitus and balance issues ..... welcome to this exclusive club!   :o

My AN surgery was almost three years ago and the tinnitus and balance problems are my only residuals.  In all fairness, the AN surgery was my second retrosigmoid surgery so the result was no vestibular function, which is the cause of my disequilibrium.  I never had tinnitus until after the surgery ..... bummer!  Most of the time I can refocus and forget about it, but whenever I am in a noisy environment (e.g. restaurants, etc.) it is awful.

There are others on here who may be able to help with doctor recommendations.  We are looking forward to coming to your fair city in June for the next ANA Symposium.

Again, welcome .....

Hi Dave,

I am W and W for the time, but see Dr. Theodosopolus (SP?) (brain) and Dr. Pensak (ear) , at the Mayfield Clinic. They are kind, professional, very easy to talk with and are known to be top notch. They are hosting the ANA Symposium this summer in Cincinnati. Hope this helps!

There are top-notch doctors everywhere.  Mine are in Illinois.

If I were near Cincinnati I'd go to Pensak (met him at the last symposium and was very impressed with him) & Theodopolous (not sure I spelled that right).

Retrosig 5/31/07 Drs. Battista & Kazan (Hinsdale, Illinois)
Left AN 3.0 cm (1.5 cm @ diagnosis 6 wks prior) SSD. BAHA implant 3/4/08 (Dr. Battista) Divino 6/4/08  BP100 4/2010 BAHA 5 8/2015

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways
