3 years ago an eye weight... today a contact lense
« on: August 31, 2010, 10:13:41 pm »
Was able to stick in a contact lens today…  :o

Three years ago I was wearing an eye weight and toting eye goop wherever I went … I won’t dare bring up the nasty ole eye bubble patch… :-[

I had Botox in my Mentalis and Platysma facial muscles to help with my synkenisis in my face. We increased the dose to the Mentalis this time (8 days ago). It is amazing how it reduced the synkenisis in my eye (like when it winks while I chew etc) I could not believe that I had almost 100% normal function in that eye- today.   :o Know that we never inject Botox near the eye at all. I thought I would again try to pop in a contact lens just to see if I could stand it… or even get it to stay in my AN tumor side eye. 6 months ago I could not stand it when I tried a contact lens… today I wore it for an hour without it irritating. Then it got milky (not enough tearing yet) so I took it out. But hey I had it in for an hour…

No tears yet with sappy movies or chopping onions ... still keeping hope.

This contact lense thing is pretty amazing being that I had not eyelid function, had episodic nystagmus right after surgery … and used to wear an eye weight all the time.

So here we are 3 years later and small improvements in the eye and facial function are still happening. 8)

Just thought I would share that with some of you who are still in year one post op and think that healing wont happen… albeit at a snails pace  :-\… it can still happen… :)

Cheers,

DHM :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
