Yippee! My smile is returning!
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:48:47 pm »
I'm 4 and a half months post-op and my facial nerve seems to be coming back.  My smile is pretty much symetrical when my mouth is closed.  This is such a vast improvement.  With the recent eye surgery, my face appears almost perfect at first glance.  My big toothy smile is still messed up, but it will come back in time.  As my daughter says, I'd make a good pirate on Halloween.  When I smile big, I look like a pirate saying 'arghh'.  I think I'll take advantage of it while I can...lol

Congrats!!!  I am a Newbie also, 3 months out.  It is wonderful to hear positive news.  I hope that you keep progressing.  I spoke with a friend today that had his acoustic tumor removed about 5-6 months ago (middle fossa) and he is starting to see improvements also. Good news is always good to hear!!  Keep Smiling.

Pat ~

Congratulations on your great progress in regaining facial mobility!  This is definitely a major milestone and one we're always pleased to learn about, so thanks for sharing it.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Sorry, no gum pain.  Maybe someone else out here can help you.
