help reading pathology report...
« on: April 27, 2006, 10:41:15 am »
I've had several variations on my tumor size from onset to post op. and am just curious how to read the post surgical pathology report.

My "speciman" was presented in Specimen A and B

A states it was a fragment  measuring 0.6 x 0.5 x 0.3 CM
B states it was multiple irregular fragments measuring 4.0 x 1.7 x .3CM

is b stating that the entire set of fragments measured the 4.0?  I know they had to layer it out and part of it according to the surgical notes came out in a capsule.  I'm just trying to understand the actual size of my "sepcimen"  LOL

Batty, I would venture a guess that they put all the sections together and it was 4.0, but they weren't rearranged perfectly like stacks of shaved meat in the deli...so 4.0 is what they came up with, but it doesn't mean that it was 4.0 in your head.
