I have a date for Trans Lab!
« on: December 31, 2009, 01:02:38 pm »
Talked to Doctors, and I will be having Trans LAb on January 19th in Little Rock, AR.  I appreciate all info provided by all of you and hope all of you have a safe and productive new year.  Those of you with experience with trans Lab, I ask for your personal views and experiences on how it went.  Now I have some peace and I am ready to get it out!

Thanks,

DJ

DJ,

Congrats on the selection of the date and approach..  I've taken the liberty of adding your sugery to the AN Treatments calendar.  It's just around the corner, but I'm sure you're relieved that it's almost here.

Congrats!

DJ ~

It's always a two-edged sword, as it were, when you receive a firm date for treatment.  Relief that the wait is almost over and you can begin to relax a bit but the concerns about the actual experience and, most of all, the outcome, tend to give you something new to be anxious about.  Still, congratulations on getting a surgery date and of course, many prayers will be going up for you between now and January 17th.  I think you'll be O.K.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Congratulations on scheduling your procedure.  At least having a firm date to look forward to allows you to take control of a situation that can be very frustrating.  Good luck and I hope you are able to relax for the next few weeks.  We will all be cheering for you and wishing you well as your date approaches.

Hey DJ, congrats on the date...Like it was said, the hardest part is deciding what to do and when.  There's a plethora of info on here regarding translab surgeries, I am sure you've done a lot of searching for that keyword.  Also something to keep in mind is what to take with you to the hospital...do a keyword search for that as there are a lot of threads on that subject...the bottom line for that is keep it to a minimum because you more than likely won't be up to a lot of reading or using the computer after the surgery.  Anyways, good luck and please continue to ask questions or if need be...vent. :)

Hi DH-

Just wanted to add my well-wishes here.  Glad you have a date - it was an enormous relief to me to have that date locked in.  And, I found that the closer the date got, the calmer I got.  BTW, I also had translab, so if you want to ask any specific questions, feel free to PM me and we can chat or email or whatever you prefer.

Dj,
On February 16, 2010, it will be three years since my retrosigmoid surgery.  The day before my surgery I had an appointment with Dr. Stefan for my complete physical.  When I walked into his office there was a man and woman sitting in his waiting room.  We started talking and he told me he had Translab surgery the week before.  He was walking, talking, laughing and very reassuring to me.  This helped me more than anything to talk to someone who had been there and made it through.  After that "chance meeting" (by the way I do not believe in coincidences) I was totally ready for my surgery.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
